John Dreyer had a highly successful career with the likes of Oxford, Luton, Stoke and Bradford City. An accomplished defender who made over 400 appearances in the football league. Dreyer joined Stevenage as a player in 2001 and played 26 times for the club. He also took charge of the club in a caretaker capacity in 2003 including a match against Graham Westley’s Farnborough Town which Boro won 5-1.

After leaving Boro in 2003, Dreyer moved into management with Maidenhead United and won promotion with them into the Conference South as well as reaching the latter stages of the FA Trophy. He left them late in 2004 before joining Hemel Hempstead as assistant manager. Dreyer paired up again with Graham Westley at Rushden in 2006 for the 13 games he was in charge of before re-joining Stevenage in 2008.
