Another one of Peter Taylor’s first signings in his spell as Boro manager. Laird is a multi-functional player who can either operate at left back or in midfield. He signed from Championship side Plymouth Argyle after a loan spell. Laird was mostly used as a squad member last season as Boro missed out narrowly on the play-offs.
With Boro releasing Fred Murray, Laird had an opportunity to show what he is worth. He did that superbly and was arguably Boro’s most consistent player last season.
