Northwich Preview

After last weeks FA Cup game away at Leicester City, Boro are back in league action this weekend when they host Northwich Victoria at Broadhall Way. Boro are on a fairly decent run in the league, winning their last 2 games without conceding a goal. The last league game was the 1-0 win over old rivals Woking at a soaked Kingfield with Peter Vincenti getting the winning goal. Northwich, however are not on form. Again the Vics are at the wrong end of the table and the man who saved them from the drop last season, Dino Maamria, has been replaced by former Lewes boss Steve King.
King has a huge task on his hands in trying to keep Northwich from getting relegated from the non league’s top division. They are currently in 22nd position with just 13 points. They’ve also played one game more than their rivals around them, but are only 3 points from safety. Northwich also struggled last season and it was only a great run of form towards the end of last season that guaranteed they would be in the BSP again this season. In fact Northwich confirmed their safety with a 2-1 win at Broadhall Way last season in what turned out to be Peter Taylor’s last home game in charge.
Northwich go into the game on the back of a narrow defeat to Burton Albion and are struggling to score goals. If they can begin to find the net then I think they will be safe again for another year and with King now in charge I think they will begin to turn things around. Boro have a fully fit squad to choose from apart from David Bridges who remains a long term absentee. Lee Boylan and Tommy Black are both back in contention today after playing in the reserves 2-2 draw at Leyton Orient in midweek. I think that Boro will continue their good form and comfortably beat Northwich today, although the new manager ‘honeymoon’ period could have some effect today.
Prediction: Boro 3-1 Northwich
