Stevenage Borough’s Youth team begin their FA Youth Cup campaign tonight when they face Bishop’s Stortford at Broadhall Way. It’s the first game in the Youth Cup for the newly formed youth side since Colin Read took over during the summer. In their last game Boro were beaten quite comfortably at Broadhall Way by Barnet. Profiles of some of the players that will feature for us this season in the Youth Cup can be seen here.

In the Blue Square Premier, Crawley are now 2 points clear at the top of the Blue Square Premier after they beat Oxford 2-1 at the Kassam Stadium. Goals from Jon-Paul Pittman and Jamie Cook just before half-time were enough to give Paul Raynor Steve Evans’ side the 3 points. Crawley have surprised everyone with their quick start, but in a league which is currently very tight, they could be back down to mid-table within 3 or 4 games if they hit a run of bad form.

Kettering have also made a good start and could overtake Crawley at the top if they beat Burton Albion this evening at Rockingham Road. The Poppies beat Barrow at the weekend 4-2, with Craig Westcarr getting on the scoresheet. They could be a good bet for promotion this season as they look good going forward and are very well organised at the back. After a great start to the season, Burton were again looking at the play-off positions, but after being beat 4-1 by us at BHW they have picked up just 1 point since. They were beaten by 2-1 by Rushden at the weekend with former striker Daryl Clare opening the scoring. They will be looking to get back to winning ways tonight in Northants.

Well it’s already too late to watch Christie as he has been sent off for a two footed lunge on Matt Bailey of Burton, but if you want to watch the rest of the Kettering-Burton game then you can do from here.

Lastly, Chris Nurse, who has been in and around the first team squad during the early part of the season has joined Welling United. Nurse made his debut in the 3-1 home defeat to Worcester City at the weekend.
