Eastbourne next up

Stevenage aim to bounce back after Saturday’s heavy defeat to Wrexham with a win on Tuesday night at home to newly promoted Eastbourne Boro. The south coast side lost their first game in the Blue Square Premier on Saturday to Rushden & Diamonds thanks to a Rob Wolleaston penalty and won’t be looking forward to their visit to Broadhall Way. Eastbourne could feel the backlash at Broadhall Way tomorrow night if Boro can turn their good build up play into goals.
Graham Westley will be looking for a reaction from his team after the shambles in the last 20 minutes at the Racecourse Ground. I don’t think he will drop the either Albrighton or Bayes, who were the main two players who under-performed on Saturday. Instead Westley may choose to keep the same team apart from Steve Morison (suspended) and hope for a much improved result.
In Morison’s absence I expect to see Lee Boylan come in. Boylan came on for Mitchell Cole at the weekend just before Morison got sent off and showed what he could do with a few nice touches and a glancing header which nearly beat Gavin Ward in the Wrexham goal. I think Westley originally signed Boylan to replace Morison anyway, thinking that the ex Northampton striker was almost certain to leave BHW and join Crewe. It will be interesting though to see if Westley continues with Cole up front. In the games I’ve seen him up there he’s done ok, but never really looked like scoring.
Stevenage need a win tomorrow night to improve the morale within the squad which at the moment must be relatively low. Although the performance was ok for an hour at Wrexham, individual mistakes cost us and must be avoided against Eastbourne tomorrow.
Prediction: Stevenage 2-0 Eastbourne
